Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Sean Michael S — 27 Aug 2013
Linklater's "Before" trilogy has one beautifully complex aspect that runs through each story; incredibly natural dialogue that is both compelling, positively frustrating, as well as realistically boring (ever been to a dinner party with pretentious people?).
Everything feels real, and thats the wonder. There are no fairytale like qualities to this film. No matter the romantic feel or setting, this film is as if you're voyeuristically watching a real life couple interact for several hours.
For some, thats a miserable experience, but just like "My Dinner With Andre" we're a captive audience to a captivating story that will only pull honest emotions from it's viewers.
