Unlike other Romance movies the film doesn't make relationships look easy or like a fairytale. It shows the couple as complicated as they are, but that they love each other nonetheless and that they want to support each other as much as they can.
There's nothing fake, no unreal miracles appear to save their relationship, and that's the best part of 'Before Midnight'.
