Review of Before Midnight (2013) by Sohrab K — 12 Jan 2014
Fantastic film. Like Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, the dialogue is the real star of the show. Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke do a fantastic job delivering it however and for a movie that is mostly just talking, they really hold you spellbound.
One big difference between this film and the previous two prequels is the depth and scope of what we are exposed to. Where the first two films delve into mostly just romance and relationships, this film goes beyond that.
In just under two hours we look at divorce, parenthood, midlife crisis and the inevitability of death but never in a way that is preachy or too serious. Great movie.
