Movies intend to act as escapism. Richard Linklater exercises a different and much more satisfying approach. His best fictional storytelling asks us to reflect on our own lives as it stays very close to reality.
It can't be more evident than his "Before" trilogy, a series that closely examined the romantic challenges of Jesse and Celine over the course of 18 years.
