Review of Before I Go to Sleep (2014) by Crae Z — 19 Aug 2015
When I see a movie with a superb cast of actors I really enjoy, but with a plot that is so thin it is transparent, I feel as though I'm watching friends being shipped off to prison. Modern thrillers feel as though they need some grand twist, but if the twist makes little sense once it is revealed the entire film collapses.
Before I Go To Sleep is one such example. The contrivances are beyond comprehension so the whatever intrigue has built up evaporates in an instant. Pity, since whenever you can get Colin Firth and Mark Strong in the same film you should have material worthy of their great talents.
