"Before I Go to Sleep" is a confusing psychological thriller but thanks to solid performances from Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong, I wasn't dozed off by it. Based on the novel by S.J. Watson, "Before I Go to Sleep" stars Kidman as Christine Lucas, a 40-year-old woman who wakes up every morning not remembering what happened the day before.
Ten years ago, she was involved in a car crash and she suffered brain damage. Christine receives treatment from Dr. Nasch (Mark Strong), a neurologist who reminds her everyday to use her camera and record her thoughts and progress each day. Nasch then instructs Christine to hide the camera somewhere in her house and to not tell her husband, Ben (Firth) about the camera or their daily sessions. The movie reveals that Christine had a son but he died from meningitis when he was eight.
We also find out that Christine's memory loss occurred when she was attacked by an unknown assasilant and left for dead near an airport hotel. Many more predictable revelations come to light but "Before I Go to Sleep" is worth seeing because of the performances by the three leads.
