Review of Before I Disappear (2014) by Caleb C — 04 Jul 2015
Based on an oscar winning short. This is one of the finest dramas this year about a man finding purpose in life after hitting rock bottom, He finds this in his young niece he has to babysit for his estranged sister who gets in trouble .
The characters are true to life and nothing is sugarcoated here. It also finds light dry humor in certain scenes to lighten it's dark themes and mood. Ron Perlman has a few nice moments in this picture as well.
Overall, the film itself is not as perfect as the short was but this also expands on that story creating more life to these beautifully flawed characters. One of my personal favorites this year. Now streaming on Netflix, Amazon and iTunes.
