Review of Beetlejuice (1988) by Mike W — 10 Nov 2013
A Tim Burton classic, and one of his best. The film posses the perfect blend of horror and comedy, and perfectly delivers the scares and laughs, which lead to a lasting effect on our minds. The film also benefits from its bizarre style, which is the film style of Burton, incredible originality and creativity, amazing visuals and makeup, and the stellar performances from Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder.
While Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin also give good performances, Keaton as Betelgeuse gives us most of the laughs and some of the scares, and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz give us a bizarre yet effective look on a person who can see the supernatural.
Another good thing about the film is its dancing and musical scenes that give us great music, cool dance numbers, and a whole lot of laughs. A Tim Burton masterpiece.
