Review of Beer League (2006) by Jack S — 01 Aug 2008
It's a bad movie, don't get me wrong. Poorly written, poorly shot. But it's very enjoyably bad. The script is basically strung-together one-liners. And many of them are very, very funny. (Hey, it's Artie Lange, so brace yourself for some sexist, racist, and homophobic material.
) The cast clearly had lots of fun making this. Tina Fey, Todd Barry, Edgar from 24, and even Letterman scribe Bill Scheft all show up. And it's all true-blue Jersey. How can you dislike a movie that gave Ralph Macchio some work? (Note: I only gave this a shot because I was going to a barbecue at the house that doubles as Artie's house in the film!).
