Review of Beer League (2006) by Coxxie M — 31 Oct 2009
I dont usually mind Artie Lang when he is in small supporting roles and therefore in smaller doses but once he gets a whole movie to himself you know you are in trouble. He isnt strong or funny enough to carry a film and it shows here, his character being totally unlikeable or funny. The slobbish oaf has been portrayed on many occasions by better actors and therefore funnier (see any Candy or Belushi movie).Simple story of beer, sex and softball means your brain can take the night off.
Not a total disaster though as they are some genuinely funny jokes and one liners (mainly delivered by the supporting cast) and it was good to see my 80's hero Ralph Macchio again.
Biggest disappointment of all though was the criminal lack of screen time of Tina Fey, one of the funniest female comedians around at the moment.
