Review of Bee Season (2005) by Jordan S — 04 Jul 2007
This movie was an attempt at making a movie that on the surface is about a spelling bee, but underneath is about deep spirituality. Unfortunately none of the side plots were developed enough to convey anything other that "hey look.
.. spirituality," and failed to make any real statement about anything. All of this aside, my least favorite part of this movie was the sound track. It seemed to be trying to make up for the scripts inability to create tension by overpowering the scene with creepy chords so you knew the scene was supposed to be tense, even though you didn't know why, or really care.
Without the soundtrack it would've been a boring movie, with the soundtrack it was a confusingly tense, boring movie.
