Review of Bee Season (2005) by Robert T — 21 Jan 2008
One of the most interesting movie I have seen in years! It is also one of the longest, boring and confusing movie I have ever seen! The film started out well, but it didn't really introduce each of the characters as much as I hope it would, and I don't think the movie ever did.
It did, however, touched on some of the aspects of a character's life, but never really in detail, and I think that was the reason why I felt bored -- the lack of character developments. Example: So, what's up with the mother? Is she sick? Mentally ill? A first-class robber? I'm confused! The story and plot were also confusing, as well.
Though I did understand it a tad bit, but I think the story was too slow too bloom to retain the audience's attention, including mine. But yes, I have to agree with some of the reviewers, the film was very deep, but it also lacked some sort of substance.
Overall, I did enjoy the fun visuals the film used during some of the spelling bee sessions. The cast delivered some great performances, but sadly, it was overshadowed by the film's lack of story development.
I did, however, found the movie's poster to be more interesting than the movie itself.
