Review of Bee Movie (2007) by Chris M — 06 Mar 2013
WHAAAAT? This was mostly terrible - an example of The Talent (sic) overpowering the storytelling. It didn;t seem to know if it wanted to appeal to kids or adults, the Eco-message got confused by trying to be simplistic, and the basic premise was ridiculous.
Jerry Seinfeld has loads of good lines but they went completely over my kids' heads. There are nice cameos by Sting and Ray Liotta but they're only funny if you actually know who Sting and Ray Liotta are. Chris Rock and others are wasted and marginalised.
I know I'm suspending my disbelief from the first frame, but the whole plot (ahem) revolves around bees being able to talk to humans. That's a BIG voicebox for a little bee... rubbish.
