Review of Bee Movie (2007) by Movie K — 30 Sep 2011

So creative and funny. Jerry Seinfeld really deliver the humour and give life to the bee. We even learn a lesson and that is without bees helping to collect nectar and spread pollen around, eco system is mess up.

Barry B. Benson and best friend Adam (Matthew Broderick) graduate and is the ceremony end so quickly, they are immediately made to visit the factory. Barry is shock that that all bees have to work until die and they can't change their job once chosen.

He wants to go out of the hive. The pollen jocks dare him to join them collecting nectar. These jocks attracts the ladies. When they are going to choose their posting, Barry join the jocks and fly outside.

The bee rule is not to talk to human. Thinking the tennis ball is a flower, Barry is stuck to the surface. Human are playing tennis and the ball is flung around. Barry flung and got suck into a car. He manage to fly out and is hit by rain drops.

Finally he landed inside Vanessa (Renee Zellweger) home. Her guy friend Ken (Patrick Warburton) want to kill him but stop by Vanessa. He decide to break the rule and thank her. They had a great chat. Back to the hive, Barry still think of Vanessa and not working, much to the dismay of his parents.

He go find Vanessa again. In the supermarket, Barry saw bottled honey been sold for human consumption. He fought with a warehouse guy and know the source of the delivery truck. While following the truck, he landed on a windscreen, where he meet other insects all hitching a ride.

A mosquito Mooseblood (Chris Rock) is one of them. They were talking and Mooseblood saw an ambulance carrying blood so he decide to fly off. Barry arrive at the honey farm and see how human uses smoke to knock out the bees and extract the honey.

One of the fake hive has a queen and the picture is a man in queen clothing - a drag queen. He took photos of the farm doings and decide to sue human. Vanessa help him along. Going to trial, the rep lawyer for human Layton (John Goodman) face a tough battle.

Barry is also suing singer Sting for using the name. Ken tries to kill Barry in the toilet but fails again. Vanessa chase him out. Layton plan is to agitate any of the bee to sting him. Adam couldn't control the urge and did that.

He is lucky to be alive and his sting is replace by a sandwich pick. Barry turn the table around by using the smoke device use by human and win the trial. Layton warn Barry he is going to mess up the whole eco life.

All honies are return, farm shut down, bees are freed. There's so much honey that the hive factory shut down for the first time in bee history. All bees have nothing to do and just laze around. Out there, the plants and flowers have all wilted and die.

Because bees didn't spread the pollen around. Vanessa flower shop closes. She is going uptown for a rose competition and they are the last batch of flowers left. Barry got the idea to hijack the flowers and bring back for the bees to spread the pollen.

The flight encounter bad weather and will be delay. Flowers cannot last long so Barry try to tell the pilots but they are freak out, try to kill him but end up hurting themselves and fainted. Barry inspiring call to the control tower broadcast to the hive and all the bees unite to carry the plane, land it safely.

They spread the pollen and save the eco system. Vanessa and Barry re-open the shop, Barry now a lawyer fighting for animal rights. Mooseblood is also lawyer. He says he is already a bloodsucker, all he need is a briefcase now.

Honey can be for sale too.
