Review of Bedtime Stories (2008) by Jack C — 22 Jan 2010
Adam Sandler doing a family movie? Is that going to work? His brand of man-child angry, crude humour in the packaging of a feel-good Disney film with two really cute kids in it; it sounds like an uncomfortable situation.
Luckily for us, it does work. "Bedtime Stories" is pretty predictable and has some surreal moments for sure (the hamster in particular) but has heart and genuine laughs. The visions of the titular stories are a lot of fun to see and when they pay off in the real world its great.
Overall "Bedtime Stories" is no game-changer, but it is a fun little family flick. Plus Russell Brand's very good in it. He's funny and hairy and that makes me laugh.
