Review of Bedazzled (2000) by Scott C — 09 Jul 2012
Brendan Fraser plays an introverted office drone who sells his soul to Satan (Elizabeth Hurley) for a chance to win the love of a coworker (Frances O'Connor) who barely knows him. He gets seven chances to alter reality to his desires, but everything gets ironically twisted in a manner typical of Faustian bargains.
This lightweight comedy has high production values and an invested cast, but it suffers from a mediocre script that's filled with bland humor and cheap gags. While the original isn't exactly a classic, this remake certainly makes it look like one by comparison.
