Review of Bedazzled (2000) by Roger P — 03 Jan 2015
Wow, is this thing ever under-rated! This was one of the more fun films I saw in the year 2000 time frame. The leads are extremely easy to watch, and versatile as the script calls for shifts in character, and Hurley is gorgeous.
I suspect critics suffered from their usual professional affliction of preferring the 30-year older British version, and so missed the otherwise obvious quality of this reboot. It's harder to explain the public's luke-warm reception.
Perhaps the portrayal of the devil in terms so out of sync with the Bible soured some viewers? Just a guess; I don't know. (I got a kick out of that, myself.) Anyway, we've (wife & I) seen it several times over the years, and always enjoy it immensely.
This was from Fraser early body of work, when he was impossible to not like.
