Review of Bed of Roses (1996) by Ericka — 17 Sep 2008
First off, let me say I am not the biggest fan of romance movies, but I do have my favorites and oddly enough this is one of them. I like it that it is a love underdog story, where both people have problems, but somehow manage to move on.
The first time I saw this, I never really cried, but I thought the part where Masterson really opens up to Slater was a shocking portrayal of many issues that woman can face, but I like how this movie says that even an abused person can overcome obstacles, and the scene where she meets his family--I could totally understand her awkwardness for being thrust into such a great family, when her's was so bad.
We all have had times like that, or at least know someone. And of course, I'm a Slater fan...but I like it that he is kinda shy but he's still brave enough to go for what he wants...just in a quiet way I guess.
I like stuff like that, but also this was the first Rom movie I saw, where a woman rejected a man's initial proposal, and they still ended up together, that is just unhead of for the time this movie was produced haha, well as it seemed to me.
I just had to comment on a movie that I could relate to and agree with.
