The book was written by the great french writer Jean Anouilh, it is a piece of theater. The movie is very faithful to the book, sentences by sentences. The story of the book is not of course about the religion but about the 2 personnalities of men when the second (Becket) got the power.
( The french title is "Becket ou l'honneur de dieu" means : Becket or the honor of God). It is like the book written by the same author called "Antigone". It is a beautiful movie with good actors.
