I didn't catch this while it was in theaters but my wife and I rented it last night.

We were both pretty underwhelmed by the entire film. I mean, it was okay. I thought Gaston and LeFou were the best part of the movie. Every time the Autotune fixed Emma Watson's singing I cringed. She's a good actress, just not a great singer.

For personal reasons I prefer practical effects over CGI whenever possible and while the Beast was very well done, a talented artist could have made a more convincing makeup effect, with some augmented CGI.
