I believe part of Beauty and the Beast's charm was the fact that it was an animation. With great performance and aesthetics, one can't deny its accuracy to the original but like a fruit cake, it is nice on the outside, and a trap on the inside.

Unless you like fruit cake, to which I'll say Ewww.
