Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Bethanyrobben — 22 Mar 2017
Emma Watson does not have the warmth of Belle in her expressions, the added new songs are unnecessary, as well as certain scenes, such as the enchantress, how the prince became a Beast, how Belle's mother died, etc.
Also, Luke Evans is handsome to many, but to me, he's not Gaston; he's not intimidating like the character was in the original. The CGI is pretty awful, Mrs. Potts & Chip look horrible, but Beast looks the worst.
He looks like a man who has grown extra hair on his face; & people have compared his horns to those of a goat's. I think they changed his character, because he's not scary as Beast in this live-action version.
I'm also not impressed with Emma Watson's yellow dress which is supposed to be Belle's, but looks horrible compared to the original, it does not have a full skirt & has a different design on the top; the sleeves are also nothing like the original.
The other costumes were well-made. I don't like Ariana Grande & John Legend's version of "Tale as Old as Time", I feel they should've chosen someone else to sing it. The only good things I can say about it are the costumes (except the yellow dress) & the set design, the scenery was beautiful! But as for everything else, this does absolutely no justice to the original.
