Review of Beauty and the Beast (2017) by Benny P — 09 Apr 2017
As expected, Disney delivered a solid production - nothing less and nothing more. Hermione, I mean Emma Watson, delivered an excellent performance throughout and held the film together where it might otherwise have fallen short.
Audiences may be surprised at the sheer quantity of singing and dancing - especially those 30 years old and under who are probably experiencing this title for the first time. Disney's magical animation and technological brilliance is quite something to behold.
It is because of this we can look past the producer's bizarre decision to have the title theme song sung by a character with a strong, harsh accent - a major oddity from surely the most anticipated scene any movie will deliver in 2017.
Thankfully Celine's version atop the credits reminded us that Disney isn't run solely by millennials. A solid 4 stars.
