Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by Piers D — 08 May 2012
Never seen it, and for the first half (ish) I wasn't surprised. Once the Beast and Belle started getting friendly, things picked up. The "Be Our Guest" song was good, but I did keep thinking of The Simpsons' "See My Vest".
In fact a lot of the film reminded me of the spoofish "Enchanted", which I suppose isn't that surprising!
Plot holes, and loads of annoying characters and sudden changes in personality. But it did have a certain charm, so I don't dislike it.
I was going to rate it a 2.5, but it did have Angela Lansbury and a Wilheim Scream.
