Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by James S — 27 Jul 2014
Reviewing Disney films is always a bit tricky. Saying anything bad about them seems akin to shouting at a small child. Fortunately there isn't really anything bad to say about Beauty and the Beast.
It was one of Disney's last hurrahs before going completely super-computer-sonic and it's a charmingly disarming and funny tale with some of Disney's stock of loveable characters.
The animation is flawless as one would expect and Gustang provides a Bond villain style bad guy for us to hiss and boo at while the tale of bestiality unfolds before us.
It's not The Lion King but this is a fine Disney offering at the end of their fairytale era.
