Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by Drew B — 11 Jun 2014
Overrated. The romance never reaches the heights the movie aims toward, and Gaston transforms from a simple asshole to an absolute monster in an unrealistically short amount of time. Plus, he could have had any girl he wanted; why couldn't he just get a girl in the village who was as hot or hotter than Belle.
It doesn't make sense for him to want to commit murder over her. The animation is great, the songs are lovely, and the characters are quirky and interesting, but the main plot lines feel forced and stale.
