Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by Anne M — 25 Dec 2012
Watching this movie now, with so much more appreciation, not only for the movies I grew up with, but for film in general. I really do think this is one of the best films in Disneys history! From the engaging opening to the benevolent Belle singing her way through the town.
Easily one of the funnest films to watch all thanks to the characters. From Belle and the Beasts humorous back and forth bickering, to the enchanted castle workers. The extravagant Lumiere, the wise Mrs.
Potts, and "strapping Confidant" Cogsworth. Then the classic music to go along with the film. Overall its the romance between Belle and the Beast that make this film a true wonder. Belle being an individual in her society, and the Beast living a hopeless life as he allows in despair.
Two people who don't belong in their separate worlds eventually fall for eachother, and see love on the inside. The whole film is clever, the story is truly a wonder, and the movie itself is nothing short of a masterpiece!
