Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by Man Cole P — 03 Aug 2013

This is quite simply Disney's best animated film and a huge anchor in the Disney renaissance of the late 80s and 90s. Belle is the most interesting Disney princess you will ever meet and her chemistry with the Beast and the other colorful characters of the castle and town are really why much of the story works. The music of course is great and Gaston is one of my favorite vain, douchebag villains (plus his song is so catchy). The audience truly connects with the beast, the love story is truly believable and the animation and music work harmoniously to make a film deserving of its Oscar nomination.
