Review of Beauty and the Beast (1991) by Matthew L — 26 Jan 2015
Beauty And The Beast is one of Disney's most enduring classics. Released in 1991, it became one of the biggest films of the year. It was even nominated for Best Feature (which it should've won, in my opinion) at the Oscars. This is something that not even Snow White or The Lion King have achieved. The movie has something for everyone. There's adventure, romance, and fun. Gaston isn't the best villain, however. If he wasn't so vain and jealous, he wouldn't be much of a villian. However, the story is enough, to where you don't need a strong villian. In Sleeping Beauty, you need Maleficent. She helps carry the story. But you don't need a ton of conflict here. That's the beauty of this story. The tale of redepyion and love is enough.
