Review of Beautiful Thing (1996) by David B — 07 Mar 2012
Great film delicately created with a large injection of sympathetic humour. Add ethnic diversity and Thamesmead and you have an improbable cinematic gem. This film stands up quite well after 15 years. The awakening and love story between two young men is at the heart of this film with some excellent performances as bookends.
Mama and Papas music add a feel good factor. Jonathan Harvey's script is to the point and the film does not drag.
