Review of Beautiful Kate (2009) by Jack C — 01 Aug 2010
A writer returns home after 20 years away to see his dying father. In doing so old wounds are reopened as he remembers his deceased sister and the strong bond that lead to heartache and tragedy. Beautifully shot by first timer Rachael Ward in the Australian outback and wonderfully acted, the secret that haunts the family maybe a little too obvious from the off but that doesnt dampen the dramatic effect when the reveal comes.
Maybe a little melodramatic for some, this is never the less an hypnotic film.
