Personally, I had a hard time watching the leading man (Alden). Now I've never read the books, but I felt he was a poor choice. He was annoying, and, well, I thought he talked like he was gay. I get the accent, but it didn't work well.

The effects in this movie were also pretty poor and it felt like it jumped around way too much, as they were trying to cover too much story with not enough time.
