Review of Beautiful Creatures (2013) by Elian D — 31 Jul 2013
The first two thirds of the film are funny and engaging, it's the cliché third act what becomes a problem, as it loses the wit and sweetness to become a ripoff of thousands of movies that follow the "coming of age of a special individual" path.
Also, either the darkness/lightness rules make no sense, or they weren't explained properly within the film.
The two young stars, though uncharismatic, do a decent job, and while Jeremy Irons is great, Emma Thompson seems to have phoned it in as she never has before.
In all, not bad if you don't have anything else to do, but also not good enough.
