Review of Beautiful Creatures (2013) by Lihui C — 09 Sep 2013

Much better than expected, but it still unfortunately panders to the Twilight crowd. The two leads are incredibly likeable and front and extremely good cast. Tonally, I felt it could have been pushed more towards the weird, magical vibe rather than Southern romanticism.

The love story can drag at times, leaving less room for action. It could have been the beginning of the next big franchise, but unfortunately it's just average. The dismal box-office gross is a shame though, since corrections could have been made for a successful sequel as it's one of the better YA adaptations.
