I saw the trailer for this before I read the book and it appealed to me almost immediately as a Harry Potter and The Hunger Games fan. So I read the book which became my new favorite. Then I saw the film and I was horrified.

I'm surprised they kept the movie title with that if the book because it did not even appear to try to stay with the book. Characters personalities and appearances were changed, some completely erased from the film, important events were skipped, there was hardly any action whatsoever and when there was it can hardly be called "action".

I think the film goes a bit overboard by heavily glorifying the appearance of Emmy Rossum as Ridley in the film whereas in the book she only appeared three times within the estimated 500 pages. If you watch the film you'll see what I mean.

However, the humor is actually funny, the characters are almost all down to earth, the magic is believable, and if you are used to supernatural romance films, it is very well done- if you don't read the book.

You can't compare it to the book, it is good on its own. I do not think this film deserves the put down as "the next twilight" for it us not as boring or a sappy. There was no chemistry in twilight.

(I don't know how that movie made it by) Here it is believable for the two leading characters together. So it deserves my four stars and a sequel, bring on Beautiful Darkness!
