The plot of Beautiful Creatures is intriguing. Unfortunately, the preproduction of the film set the Fantasy/Romance flick up for failure based solely on the cast and the passionless directing. Alice Englert's character, Lena, is adequate, but the lead man Ethan played by Alden Ehrenreich delivers a weak performance that lacks believability.
Coming from Writer/Director of P.S. I Love You and Screenwriter of Water For Elephants, Richard LaGravenese, Beautiful Creatures is a could-have-been-great gone wrong.
