Review of Beautiful Boy (2018) by Olivia P — 23 Jan 2019
Beautiful Boy is a film that could have been incredibly impactful, had the editing and constant time jumps not taken away the relentlessness of the addiction affecting the main characters, and made the film feel twice as long as it actually is.
The entire cast is fantastic, and the moments when the film lingers on the interactions between these family members desperately trying to deal with something incredibly harrowing together are effective in their own right.
Unfortunately it's not quite enough to overcome the odd editing choices, but it is enough to gain some form of enjoyment from it.
