Review of Beautiful Boy (2018) by Mary B — 12 Jan 2019

Surprisingly not well done. There were more moments of musical montages than there were scenes with dialogue and meaningful interaction between caracteres. Rather than telling a story about mistakes and growth, it seems as if the movie is the same scene repeated over and over again about recovery and relapse, and while that may have been the actual experience for the people this movie was based on, it was not uplifting in the least.

The acting was good and the story was authentic/realistic, just not meaningful.
