Review of Beautiful Boy (2011) by Remy R — 04 Jun 2011
The epitome of "hard to watch", which usually means that I would love it. No surprises here, this film was devastatingly well done. Other than a few too many shaky/intimate camera shots, the storytelling really gave life to and insight into such strange, and yet very real, loss. Viewers are privileged to witness the intimate unraveling of one couples' grief as they mourn over the horror of the passing of their son, who gunned down several people before killing himself. The already struggling couple are forced to look at their grief, take responsibility for themselves, and learn how to love the memory of their tragic son and what's left of their marriage.
Brilliantly acted.
