Review of Beau Brummell: This Charming Man (2006) by Private U — 22 Nov 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and like Donald Trump (bankrupt at least 4 times) and other modern day scoundrels, Beau Brummel was extremely popular and well loved by a huge circle of people. And as such, those who were all too willing to become his debtors, ought have nothing to complain about.

I disagree completely with "The Hollywood Reporter article by Ray Richmond in 2007. Richmond fails to mention that this kind of scoundrel - the Beau Brummell kind - is quite public about his ways.

He then gets away with it because everyone of his foolish debtors is buying favour. I think the movie makes that quite clear and as such Brummell is rather liked and besides he received, some might say, his comeuppance when he died impoverished with syphilis.

In those days, they didn't have the luxury of declaring bankruptcy (that is without being hung or jailed) as so many very reckless people do today and then without paying in many instances, no real deterrent penalty at all, then doing it yet again and again usually keeping their fancy homes and cars.

.. So Beau was nothing compared to the likes of that disgusting Trump fellow...or how about Larry King no less than twice. AND how do we feel about Walt Disney - oh we love him! Oh I forgot in modern times the collective "we" admire it as the price of success and risk-taking that benefits the common "good".

. I loved this movie!
