Review of Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest (2011) by Samuel J — 23 Jan 2012
Excellent documentary, and a must see for true hip-hop fans, as well as casual fans (FYI- you aren't a true hip-hip fan because you can recite a 2pac song....clowns). Being a huge Tribe fan, it was interesting to see how (and when) exactly they started to fall apart, and why.
Everyone knows Tip and Pfife don't get along.....but it makes you feel for the rest of the group (Ali)....who just want to cut records. Toop Note: don't forget, the doc is directed by Remmy (Higher Learning), a Tribe enthusiast.
...and he goes all the way back. Most Frustrating Takeaway: if these 2 bastards could get along.....it wouldn't be 14 years since their last record......and we would probably have 3 or 4 more albums since them.
.....check it out!
