Review of Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) by Andy B — 14 Feb 2013
A movie Harmony Korine would be proud of. Or Fellini or Malick or any other director that makes movies with little to no plot or story but rather images, occasional dialog, and perhaps some voice over.
These aren't my cup of tea...thats not to say they are bad movies, its just I tend to get bored with them. I enjoyed the score and the principle actors more than anything else, and that it was pretty short.
As for the theme, I can't say I really identify with the idea of sticking with a crappy place to live for whatever reasons--especially if it often kills people prematurely--but I suppose if people like it then more power to them.
