Beasts of the Southern Wild is a sweet and sappy taste of the world through the eyes of an innocent child. It's an interesting point of view, but there isn't enough strong plot to make it much more then the simple struggles of a child and her father.
Quvenzhane Wallis is great, but she's the only thing about this movie that is close to Oscar worthy.
