Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Alejandro R — 10 Nov 2015

Could this film have possibly been any more gripping? I don't think so. It truly is a phenomenal cinematic achievement. A powerfully told story with stellar performances all around, including from one particular child actor as the story is told through his eyes.

Idris Elba was well casted in his role, as he brought such rawness and spirt to the complexity of his character through his fall from grace (f you could call it that). A compelling piece of work very much worth watching.

This is another one of those movies that sheds a very revealing light on a real world issue many of us are very much disconnected from.
