Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Elgan D — 30 Dec 2015
An African civil war drama seen via the story of a child soldier, this is extraordinary picture which deserved a far larger distribution than it has received through Netflix. Idris Elba once more demands attention and is surrounded by faultless performances from the largely unknown cast.
In some regards the film evokes the excellent Brazilian movie 'City of God'. A powerful film which does not shirk any of the darkness of war.
