Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Gerhard J — 20 Feb 2016
Unflinching and brutally honest, Cary Fukunaga's Beast of No Nation still manages to imbue the human element into a film about war and child soldiers. Idris Elba is perfect as the Commandant, but it is Abraham Attah's performance as Agu which stands out - perfectly embodying a child whose innocence is quickly stripped away, yet desperately holding on to some sense of humanity, even morality.
The movie dragged at times, at the expense of having a slightly rushed final act.
