Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Lorenzo R — 16 Apr 2016
Go in expecting to feel filthy. You'll not feel clean after watching this one. The pain of watching the descent into darkness, and overall bleakness, of this picture is not uplifting to say the least.
Elba brings to life the most detestable kind of scum, while Attah comes into the picture much like the viewer. Innocent and naive, becoming increasingly deaf to the violence and severity of actions, by an illusion of choice.
