Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Cary P — 20 Dec 2015
Documentary style, no melodrama, not preachy. Great performance by Idris Elba and Abraham Attah. Brutal violence. Scene of initiation into militia, boy kills captive with machete. Beautiful realistic scenery of west.
Africa. Unspecific conflict, unnamed country. I liked it that way, the focus was on the experience of the boy, trapped. He kids were still kids, but with guns.
ILM screening w/Q&A w/director and Abrham Attah.
ILM act.
