Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Jacob W — 21 Oct 2015
Beasts of No Nation is one of the most powerful films I've seen in a while. For a Netflix original film they did a great job with this movie. Cary Fukunaga is one of those directors to look out for.
Both the directing and cinematography is the best part of this film. Now the film is really disturbing and it's very brutal. What I liked about this film is that Fukunaga isn't afraid to go beyond and show how brutal this film is.
He catches the realism of war. Also the acting of this film is great. I do think Idris Elba is Oscar worthy for his performance. His character was scary and very mysterious. One negative I had with this film was the 3rd act it started to lose its momentum and pacing.
Overall if you have Netflix this is a film that I highly check out and I can't wait to see what Netflix has with their own movies in the future.
