Review of Beasts of No Nation (2015) by Horace J — 13 Feb 2016
This was painful. This was stomach turning. This was true horror.
...it was also very high art.
There are so many stories in the motherland that should definitely receive more recognition on a global scale. While everyone is focused on the Middle East, Africa is seeing more genocide, bloodshed, and carnage.
...it also has its share of monsters.
That's what Idris Elba is in this movie. Make no mistake, he isn't necessarily the bad guy. There are no heroes in this film. But he is the movie's most interesting and its most charismatic. I cannot reveal anymore info on this film other than it lives up to the hype and then some.
#NDF.
